Team 8 - 0 Settoli

A scorching day at One Eye Arena, where 4012 spectators were in place for today's match. Lars Läfsten was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Piotr Tuleja and Mirosław Miszczak. They fielded: Franceschilli - Piròli, Pietronero, Antoldi - Täger, Mård, El Assal, Imperi, Dudu - Shestoperov, Mazzuoli.

The following players had been selected: Arenella - Sferrazza, Frosio, Cossisoglu, Cravotta - Faco, Renosto, Dellai, Maruzzo - Barbieri, Gaioni.

One Eye Team fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Settoli, the formation of choice was a 4-4-2. Aaro Mård is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Team has taken the lead 35 minutes into the match, 1 to 0. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! Team put themselves up 2 - 0 when Pasquale Piròli broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. 37 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Gianluca Imperi ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 3 - 0 for Team. 40 minutes in, Team appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only solid. Team solidified their lead at the 43 minute mark, as Gianluca Imperi snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 4 - 0. The home side's Umberto Mazzuoli came close to extending the lead after 44 minutes. His shot came in from the right but Giobbe Arenella managed to push it wide with his fingertips. After 44 minutes Settoli's Roberto Maruzzo contracted a slight foot injury, but said he could still finish the game. Halftime score was 4 - 0. Team did a good job holding on to the ball, with 75 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

During the break, Team's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organization. Tanju Dudu increased Team's lead to 5 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. The Team players could smell victory in the air. Umberto Mazzuoli wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Vitaliano Sali after 65 minutes. Gionata Frosio of Settoli received a yellow card after 66 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. The referee showed Settoli's Fulvio Gaioni the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Team's Erik Täger had an excellent opportunity 77 minutes in, shooting after bringing down a ball from the right, but he missed the goal by miles! Alexander Shestoperov gave Team supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0 after 78 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. Settoli's Urbano Cossisoglu was shown a yellow card after 86 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Dimitri Coquel did some final stretches before entering the game as Team's trainer helped Tanju Dudu off the field after an injury. 88 minutes into the game, Team seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organization. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why Thomas Sferrazza found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors. Gigi Antoldi was able to squirm through the central defense after 89 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 7 - 0. Maybe Alexander Shestoperov should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 89 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Team's Magdi El Assal bringing the lead up to 8 - 0. The fourth official announced that there would be 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 8 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Team would have 78 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Team's best player was Vitaliano Sali. Good thing Gigi Antoldi isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Most important Settoli player was Thomas Sferrazza. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Giobbe Arenella seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
