Brann 3 - 2 Tricolor

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 2436 to Brann Stadion. Petri Äyrälä was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Maximilian Friz and . Brann had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: de Sousa - Leenaers, Verstappen, Cirigliano, Grogg - Sereda, Martinho, Lesueur, Dejaegher - Errea, Bertieaux.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Tricolor. Starters: Tarawaly - Hodgton, Martin, Ralson, Smithson - Rahim, Rutherford, Sweeney, Adkins, Turner - Lynch.

Today, Brann's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks, taking advantage of their magnificent level with that tactic. With 36 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, Alexander Hodgton needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Tricolor, with 54 percent of the ball.

Shaun Turner had a good try after 84 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. 85 minutes into the game, Brann wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Daniel Errea gave Rune 'Husi' Sandve a quick hug as he left the field. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when Conrad Adkins was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 85 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! After 89 minutes, the Brann coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Máximo Martín Cirigliano off the field. Bobby Wunderlin took his place. Tricolor claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time. Tricolor's Alexander Hodgton could have put the guests one up after 99 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but Sabino Fernando de Sousa was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. Always a threat, Rune 'Husi' Sandve tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting Robbert Jan Bertieaux who should have easily scored for Brann, but the ball went wide. Brann created a good opportunity to score 103 minutes into the match when Robbert Jan Bertieaux's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. After extra time, the game was still tied and a penalty shoot-out ensued.

Brann's Eugen Grogg kept his cool as he faced down Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 1 - 0. Clearly nervous from the start, Tricolor's Shaun Turner took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 1 - 0. Brann's Seth Verstappen didn't hesitate but Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 1 - 0 score. Tricolor's Mushfiqur Rahim showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 1 - 1. Brann's Robbert Jan Bertieaux coolly put the ball past Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly. 2 - 1. Oooh - how unlucky! Tricolor's Alan Sweeney attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of Sabino Fernando de Sousa. The score stays 2 - 1. A confident Rune 'Husi' Sandve of Brann put the ball right where he wanted, but Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly was right there for the save. No goal. Tricolor's Alex Rutherford looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 2 - 1. Brann's Sabino Fernando de Sousa cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Tricolor's Conrad Adkins showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 2 - 2. Brann's Floor Leenaers penalty shot was very well placed but Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 2 - 2. Tricolor's Alexei Smithson didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of Sabino Fernando de Sousa. The score remained 2 - 2. Brann's Alexey Sereda made no mistake. Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly didn't have a chance. 3 - 2. Tricolor's Mark Ralson looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Brann's best player was Robbert Jan Bertieaux. On the other hand, Scott Dejaegher's play was disheartening. The most dominating Tricolor player was without a doubt Solomon 'Warrior' Tarawaly. Shaun Turner turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
