Clouds darkened the skies at The Hill Fort as 4366 spectators turned up for the match. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Tony Forsmar. Bessemer decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Wolfenden - Nedwell, Kaplan - Cresswell, Dexter, Lennon, Adams, Klein - Younger, Searle, Cleverley.

Saxons had chosen a strategic 5-5-0 formation. The following players took the field: Ornelas - Næs, Reynheim, Jensen, av Teigum, Bonnafous - Budka, Carhuajulca, Aristotelous, Haraldsen, á Nesi -.

Bessemer made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Douglas 'The Elder' Younger completely alone with keeper Maciel Paulo Ornelas, who made a spectacular block. With 2 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Saxons resulted in a counterattack that set Tasos Aristotelous free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. 18 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Bessemer was Douglas 'The Elder' Younger. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Bessemer to 2 - 0 as Douglas 'The Elder' Younger finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. By now, the players in Bessemer felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Douglas 'The Elder' Younger of Bessemer seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 3 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Greg Klein. By then Douglas 'The Elder' Younger had scored three goals - a hat trick! 28 minutes in, Saxons's Matías Carhuajulca received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Bessemer managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when Brian Cleverley cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Bessemer, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

Martin Adams wanted to play on, but the Bessemer coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by Walt Rutherford. Brian Cleverley had a fantastic opportunity to put Bessemer up another goal 65 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. The visitors' right side was dangerous today; Matías Carhuajulca made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored to reduce the lead to 4 - 1 67 minutes into the match. Bessemer's Phillip Cresswell increased the lead to 5 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 75 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Walt Rutherford from Bessemer a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Content with how the game was proceeding, the Bessemer coach let Lee Manley replace David Kaplan after 80 minutes. Brian Cleverley unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. The Bessemer free kick 86 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of David Dexter, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 6 - 1! Saxons made sure of not letting Greg Klein succeed with his speed. When an opportunity appeared for him, as it did 87 minutes into the game, speedy Óla Jákup 'Sidewinder' Næs came to the rescue and stopped the attack. Bessemer enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

The most dominating Bessemer player was without a doubt Douglas 'The Elder' Younger. On the other hand, Lee Manley's play was disheartening. Saxons's best player was Philippe Bonnafous. Maciel Paulo Ornelas was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 1.
