Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 3137 to Somerville Super Stadium. Patrício Pedro Lopes was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sacco Lindenbergh and Friedmar Traxler. EVILinc decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. Starters: Murphy - Berger, Guest - Chí Minh, Harwood, Wright, Muolo, Roberts - Locca, Tuckey, Mueller.

Rünenberg had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Lineup: Noftziger - Letellier, Zainzinger, Nuehrich - Keel, Felgenhauer, Augsburger, Nessler - Sarver, Wehrda, Dahmer.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Rünenberg, taking advantage of their solid level with that tactic. Cornelius Dahmer caught everyone off guard with a great opening pass - but unfortunately Dietrich Keel was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 22 minutes, Rünenberg did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, Dietrich Keel was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. After 25 minutes, Rünenberg were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. Klemens Augsburger did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. Klemens Augsburger of Rünenberg was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 28 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Frédéric Letellier who increased Rünenberg's lead to 0 - 2. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Rünenberg lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. EVILinc reduced the lead to 1 - 2 with 33 minutes on the clock when Alexander Roberts got the best of a ball floated in from the left. After 37 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed Sven Sarver to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 3. Halftime score was 1 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rünenberg, with 61 percent of the ball.

Ilario Zainzinger left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Remo Ringenburg was the replacement. The Rünenberg players could smell victory in the air. Ludovic Felgenhauer wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Klemens Heimgartner after 46 minutes. Malte Wehrda was, after 47 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Ross Murphy made the save. Remo Ringenburg of Rünenberg took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 64 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 4. Malte Wehrda wanted to play on, but the Rünenberg coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 65 minutes into the game by Guido Dübendorfer. The referee showed EVILinc's Victor Wright the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 69 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Cornelius Dahmer a chance to increase the lead for Rünenberg, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 5. With 89 minutes played, the EVILinc coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Long McArthur came on, Moe Harwood had to leave the fray. After 89 minutes, EVILinc switched Niccolò Muolo with Machlin Sandilands, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, EVILinc's Victor Wright was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 89 minutes. Mihi Boon was given a chance to change things around. Rünenberg enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

Alexander Roberts performed admirably for EVILinc. Ross Murphy on the other hand, had a terrible day. Rünenberg's top performer was clearly Guido Dübendorfer. Frédéric Letellier was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 5.
