Brann 1 - 4 Pigs

Clouds darkened the skies at Brann Stadion as 4362 spectators turned up for the match. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nicola Moscardino and Kévin Friboulet. Brann decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. They fielded: de Sousa - Grogg, Cirigliano, Verstappen, Götterup - Couceiro, Martinho, Lesueur, Dejaegher, Sandve - Aarhus.

Pigs tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players took the field: Heerssema - Turanskiy, Janić, Tompkin, Ndiaye - Arkell, Scotney, Köves, Hayden - Keskin, Borneo.

Brann focused on getting players in position for long range shots, taking advantage of their weak level with that tactic. 23 minutes into the game, Pigs wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Glen Ndiaye gave Garry Bell a quick hug as he left the field. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 27 minutes into the match left Pigs's Rob Arkell completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Brann's Eugen Grogg was shown a yellow card after 29 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 36 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Brann on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by Rune 'Husi' Sandve to make it 1 - 1. Speedy Lefter Keskin tried one of his patented rushes 42 minutes into the game, but Máximo Martín Cirigliano was just as fast and averted the attack. The corner kick from Jürgen Tompkin was powerfully met by the head of Rick Borneo to make the score 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Pigs claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.

After 69 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Barnabás Köves who increased Pigs's lead to 1 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Pigs lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Some things can only be learned through experience, and Heitor Martinho should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Pigs a goal with 74 minutes of the match played. Sabino Fernando de Sousa got a fingertip on Lefter Keskin's shot from the left 79 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. 82 minutes into the game, Brann seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organisation. With 85 minutes played, the Brann coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Alexey Sereda came on, Rune 'Husi' Sandve had to leave the fray. 88 minutes into the match, Rick Borneo came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The home crowd was not impressed when Barnabás Köves came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 88 minutes. Pigs were now up 1 - 4. The bench was restless, and with 89 minutes passed Brann's coach gave Daniel Errea the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Tom Aarhus reluctantly left the field. With Tom Aarhus no longer on the pitch, Nils Götterup took over free kick duty. Possession in this half belonged to Pigs, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Most important Brann player was Alexey Sereda. Heitor Martinho turned in a dismal performance, however. Arthur Scotney performed admirably for Pigs. Watze Heerssema on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.
