Tricolor 1 - 0 Brann

Clouds darkened the skies at Estádio das Laranjeiras as 2817 spectators turned up for the match. Christian Magnusson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Wolfgang-Wilhelm Koskull and Loïc Maugard. Tricolor started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. They fielded: Tarawaly - Hodgton, Martin, Ralson, Smithson - Rahim, Rutherford, Sweeney, Adkins, Viem - Lynch.

Brann had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: de Sousa - Cirigliano, Kresnik - Wunderlin, Martinho, Lesueur, Dejaegher, Grogg - Aarhus, Sandve, Kurtov.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Tricolor on this day, taking advantage of their formidable level with that tactic. Brann displayed their disastrous ability to play creatively. Brann's Máximo Martín Cirigliano got himself booked for a foul. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Mushfiqur Rahim of Tricolor spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Tricolor's Alan Sweeney was shown a yellow card after 44 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Tricolor, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

60 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Tricolor was Abe 'Superstar' Lynch. Tricolor put in a good effort on the right, but Rob Viem saw his volley fly wide of the mark 74 minutes into the game. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Eugen Grogg from Brann a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Tricolor had to make a substitution after 82 minutes. Boris Martin limped off the field and was replaced by Chris Sneesby. Brann needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 85 minutes Rune 'Husi' Sandve made way for Robbert Jan Bertieaux. With Rune 'Husi' Sandve no longer on the pitch, Scott Dejaegher took over free kick duty. Eugen Grogg was the new captain of Brann - handed the armband by the departing player. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Tricolor, with 55 percent of the ball.

Tricolor's top performer was clearly Chris Sneesby. Mushfiqur Rahim was a disappointment, however. Robbert Jan Bertieaux performed admirably for Brann. Sabino Fernando de Sousa on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 0.
