MSO 1 - 5 Rünenberg

The 3452 fans in attendance at MS Park were roasting in the hot sun. Davide Lo Giudice was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Culvanawd Edwards and . A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for MSO. Lineup: Duve - Billich, Lauersen, Bredal - Koppel, Fröman, Semeniaka, Rieper, Ðukić - Carrière, Zourek.

Rünenberg decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. They fielded: Noftziger - Letellier, Zainzinger, Eppelsheimer - Straub, Felgenhauer, Heimgartner, Gremminger - Sarver, Ruby, Dübendorfer.

Rünenberg were mostly trying to use their world class skill at attacking on the flanks. Many thought Mohamed Rieper ought to have been awarded a penalty 15 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Serge Noftziger after a determined run through the middle. 21 minutes in, Rünenberg's Dave Ruby received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Jiří Zourek was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so MSO's Niwat Junseemui had to come off the bench. As Jiří Zourek exited the field, Gerd Billich volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. After 34 minutes, Rünenberg's Ilario Zainzinger made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. MSO needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 35 minutes Tobias Bredal made way for Jukka Rytkönen. The crowd chanted their encouragement as MSO's Nicolas Carrière came in from the right after 35 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1. Rünenberg took the lead 37 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Guido Dübendorfer was the scorer. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rünenberg, with 55 percent of the ball.

Ilario Zainzinger wanted to play on, but the Rünenberg coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by Remo Ringenburg. Some fine movement on the left led to a Rünenberg goal after 47 minutes, making it 1 - 3. Ludovic Felgenhauer was noted down as the scorer. With 55 minutes played, the MSO coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Eusébio da Rosa came on, Davor Ðukić had to leave the fray. Vasil' Semeniaka was handed the MSO captain's armband. Rünenberg's Alessandro Gremminger had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 65 minutes having been played. Dietrich Keel was the replacement. The coach of Rünenberg was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 71 minutes, Malte Wehrda came on for Dave Ruby. With Dave Ruby no longer on the pitch, Guido Dübendorfer became the new set pieces taker. With the scoreboard showing that 74 minutes had been played, Rünenberg nearly put themselves up another goal after Malte Wehrda came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. With 79 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Ludovic Felgenhauer of Rünenberg to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 4. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Rünenberg, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. 83 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 5 as Klemens Heimgartner finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. After this, you could see that the players of Rünenberg were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Possession in this half belonged to Rünenberg, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.

The most dominating MSO player was without a doubt Niwat Junseemui. Heino Lauersen turned in a dismal performance, however. Rünenberg's top performer was clearly Malte Wehrda. On the other hand, Sven Sarver's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 5.
