Park 2 - 4 Bergamot

Dark skies made the crowd of 993 at St Peter's Field a little nervous, but the rain held off. Philipp Schartner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tuomas Heikkinen and . A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Park. The following players took the field: Khan - Treacy, Veith, Mörnner, Malpass - Krotkowski, Scheding, Langø, Al-Ani - Mähr, Diprizio.

Bergamot started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. Lineup: Gioda - Inversi, Badocchi, Felici Ridolfi, Carbonaro, Cioncolini - Goretti, Dalbon, Aguzzi, Simion - Boccassi.

Park was determined to use their inadequate long shot ability. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Bergamot, taking advantage of their formidable level with that tactic. 8 minutes into the game, Giancarlo Carbonaro had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. Park's David Malpass had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 35 minutes having been played. Kevin Westbury was the replacement. Kevin Westbury was the new captain of Park - handed the armband by the departing player. Bergamot's Beppino Aguzzi lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to Mario Boccassi who finished for 0 - 1 with 42 minutes of the match played. Bergamot increased their lead after 43 minutes when Mario Boccassi broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. Park's slick passing moves completely confused the defence after 43 minutes, but thanks to Giuseppe Gioda's miraculous save from Mahdi Al-Ani's long shot the score remained unchanged. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Park claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

With 54 minutes gone, Bergamot had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, Demetrio Cioncolini did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. Park's Jeremy Treacy had a nice free kick routine after 60 minutes that was very close to paying off, had it not been for a dramatic save by the visitors' keeper. A sublimely cunning counterattack by Bergamot resulted in the awarding of a free kick that Nicola Dalbon brutally hammered, twisting it mid-flight past the flailing hands of the keeper and into the net - 0 - 3! The referee showed Bergamot's Vincenzo Goretti the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The head of Ivan Veith connected with a corner kick after 64 minutes, and the ball ended up with Joacim Mörnner of Park who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1 - 3. Pierpaolo Badocchi wanted to play on, but the Bergamot coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by Stefano Stancarone. The Bergamot players could smell victory in the air. Mario Boccassi wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Procopio Ricca after 75 minutes. Bergamot came close to extending their lead as Vincenzo Goretti delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 81 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. After 86 minutes, Park were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. Jan Krotkowski did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. After 87 minutes, the defensive line of Bergamot created a counterattack through the middle that gave Beppino Aguzzi a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. With 89 minutes played, the Park coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Alan Busby came on, Jeremy Treacy had to leave the fray. The bench was restless, and with 89 minutes passed Park's coach gave Adrian Alfred the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Micky Scheding reluctantly left the field. 89 minutes into the match, Park's Jan Krotkowski demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to Cristian Diprizio who chipped it in for 2 - 3. Park focused on finding shooting opportunities from distance and after 89 minutes Jan Krotkowski fired off the big cannon, but the shot went sailing over the cross bar and into the car park. Procopio Ricca stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Bergamot the goal to make it 2 - 4. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Park, with 59 percent of the ball.

Park's top performer was clearly Gunnar Langø. Sohail Khan turned in a dismal performance, however. Stefano Stancarone performed admirably for Bergamot. On the other hand, Giuseppe Gioda's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 4.
