MSO 3 - 4 RR

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1953 to MS Park. Rudolf Schoenefelss was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cyril Eschler and . MSO tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players took the field: Pilgaard - Therkelsen, Chichkin - Jícha, Mynott, Cachia, Beraia, Lefebvre - Muhammed, Bošnjak, Variar.

RR decided to use a 5-5-0 set up. Starters: Zmuda - Żelazowski, Seyfried, Püttlingen, Bochra, Vermezović - Krzywdziński, Selačko, Podymniak, Rudziński, Goś -.

The strategy for MSO was to use their solid ability to press. RR were relying on their world class ability to counter-attack. After 20 minutes, RR were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick. After 22 minutes RR tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, Szymon Goś's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. RR's Szymon Goś got himself booked for a foul. MSO's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. Tomáš Jícha gave MSO the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 At this time in the match, MSO were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. MSO's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. MSO claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

RR needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes Piotr Żelazowski made way for Mieczysław Mszyca. Mirosław Zmuda was the new captain of RR - handed the armband by the departing player. Some things can only be learned through experience, and Adrian Podymniak should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting MSO a goal with 74 minutes of the match played. MSO pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. 88 minutes in, MSO's Giorgi Beraia received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Marian Rudziński of RR had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. Exidio Caldas came in to finish the match. The pressing tactics used by MSO were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. The RR free kick 89 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of Kasper Krzywdziński, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 1! The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Piers Mynott from MSO a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 89 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! RR had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time. With 95 minutes played Šerif 'Mr GL' Bošnjak almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but the visitors' Mirosław Zmuda was onto it, grabbing the would be breakthrough ball. Still tied after extra time, the crowd was buzzing as the teams prepared for a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.

MSO's Šerif 'Mr GL' Bošnjak made no mistake. Mirosław Zmuda didn't have a chance. 2 - 1. RR's Mirosław Zmuda was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 2 - 2! MSO's Piers Mynott looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. RR's Vuk Vermezović showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 2 - 3. MSO's Giorgi Beraia didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of Mirosław Zmuda. The score remained 2 - 3. RR's Elias Püttlingen cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. MSO's Heinz Therkelsen kept his cool as he faced down Mirosław Zmuda. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 3 - 3. RR's Kasper Krzywdziński didn't hesitate but Ricco 'Glue Glove' Pilgaard managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 3 - 3 score. MSO's Denis Chichkin looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 3 - 3. A confident Jerzy Bochra of RR put the ball right where he wanted, but Ricco 'Glue Glove' Pilgaard was right there for the save. No goal. Oooh - how unlucky! MSO's Yann Lefebvre attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of Mirosław Zmuda. The score stays 3 - 3. RR's Szymon Goś coolly put the ball past Ricco 'Glue Glove' Pilgaard. 3 - 4. MSO's top performer was clearly Hasan Muhammed. Šerif 'Mr GL' Bošnjak was a disappointment, however. Vuk Vermezović performed admirably for RR. On the other hand, Adrian Podymniak's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 4.
