Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 1195 at Estádio das Laranjeiras today. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and . Tricolor decided to use a 5-4-1 set up. The following players had been chosen: Tarawaly - Hodgton, Sneesby, Martin, Ralson, Smithson - Palmer, Wisco, Pilarski, Gomez - Okada.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Bergamot. The following players took the field: Gioda - Badocchi, Bassini, Felici Ridolfi, Carbonaro, Cioncolini - Goretti, Dalbon, Aguzzi, Simion - Boccassi.

It was an obvious ambition of Tricolor to use their brilliant ability at attacking on the flanks. For their match strategy, Bergamot had decided to use their excellent ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Tricolor fans held their breath as Alexei Smithson scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 36 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but Giuseppe Gioda got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar. It was obvious that Tricolor had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Tricolor's Lionel Wisco had an excellent opportunity after 39 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! After 40 minutes Bergamot tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, Beppino Aguzzi's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. 40 minutes into the game, Bergamot seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Giancarlo Carbonaro from Bergamot a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 41 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! In a fantastic display of determination, Tricolor's Louis 'Fabulous' Palmer forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. With 44 minutes played, Tricolor put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Steve Okada, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Tricolor had most of the ball, with 74 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Bergamot get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Louis 'Fabulous' Palmer was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by Julien Gomez, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. Players in Tricolor heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. The Tricolor players could smell victory in the air. Steve Okada wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Rajiuddin Malik after 60 minutes. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Tricolor coach let Phil Tunna replace Julien Gomez after 65 minutes. Folke Pilarski wanted to play on, but the Tricolor coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 65 minutes into the game by Angus Buchanan. There was concern in the stands when, at the 66 minute mark, Bergamot's Nicola Dalbon hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. After 70 minutes, Bergamot switched Pierpaolo Badocchi with Stefano Stancarone, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Rajiuddin Malik increased the lead for Tricolor to 3 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! With 75 minutes played, the Bergamot coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Procopio Ricca came on, Mario Boccassi had to leave the fray. Alexander Hodgton could have put Tricolor up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 81 minutes. With the clock showing 82 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Bergamot resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Vincenzo Goretti in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. 83 minutes into the game, Bergamot seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to solid. 86 minutes into the game Bergamot managed a counterattack, but Giancarlo Carbonaro took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper. 87 minutes in, Bergamot's Stefano Stancarone received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Tricolor's Alexei Smithson increased the lead to 4 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 87 minutes. Tricolor claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 77 percent.

The most dominating Tricolor player was without a doubt Angus Buchanan. Phil Tunna was a disappointment, however. Bergamot's top performer was clearly Stefano Stancarone. Marcello Bassini turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
